SUDIRMAN CUP

The Sudirman Cup was established in 1989 and is held every two years. It is recognized as the premier mixed team badminton tournament in the world, officially known as the BWF World Mixed Team Championship. The event is named in honor of Dick Sudirman, the founding father of the Badminton Association of Indonesia and a prominent figure in the sport's global development. Though sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the tournament does not award individual ranking points to players.

Sixteen countries are selected to compete and are divided into four groups during the initial stages. Each team faces others in their group, and the top teams advance to the knockout rounds. If a player is injured, a lower-ranked player from the same national squad may be substituted in accordance with BWF regulations.

Each team consists of male and female players, and each tie comprises five matches: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. The winning nation is awarded the prestigious Sudirman Cup trophy, symbolizing team excellence and unity in international badminton.
