Edinson Roberto Cavani Gomez is a Uruguayan football professional playing as a forward for French team Paris Saint-Germain. He is well known for his prolific goal scoring ability and tireless work-rate. Cavani was listed 10th in The Guardian 's list of The 100 best footballers in the world for the year 2012.

The tall Uruguayan began his career playing for Danubio in Montevideo. He played there for two years and moved to Italian side Palermo in 2007. He spent four years at Palermo scoring 34 goals in 109 league appearances. Cavani signed for Napoli in 2010, the naples side signed him on an initial loan deal before buying him for a total fee €17 million. He won his first club trophy the Coppa Italia in 2011-12 campaign, he was top scorer with 5 goals.

Cavani went on to score 33 goals each in his first two seasons, followed by 38 goals in his third season and he also finished as Serie A top scorer with 29 league goals in 2013-13 season. On 16 July 2013, Cavani was transferred to PSG for a reported €64 million.

He made his international debut and scored against Colombia on 6 February 2008. He has since participated in two major tournaments, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 Copa América. He scored once at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, to help Uruguay to fourth place in the tournament. He went on to win the 2011 Copa América with Uruguay, being part of the Uruguay squad, that won a record 15th Copa America title.
