Mumbai Indian is a franchise team representing the city of Mumbai in the Indian Premier League. This team was brought by the famous reliance industry on 24 January 2008. Sachin Tendulkar was appointed as the captain of this outfit at the start of IPL in 2008. Later in 2011 Indian spin wizard Harbajan Singh took over the captaincy. Nita Ambani, wife of richest Indian Mukesh Ambani is the Chief executive of this franchise.

LOGO AND JERSEY

Sudarshana Chakra, a disk like spinning weapon used by Lord Vishnu was inscribed in the logo with team name engraved in it. This team lines up in Ice Blue color jersey with gold stripes.

Mumbai Indians play their home games in Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Wankhede Stadium hosted the finals of the first edition of Indian Premier League.

IPL STATS

Mumbai Indians are one of the consistent team in the last three editions of the IPL. In the debut season of IPL Mumbai got off to a bad start but recovered to finish the season in the fifth spot. Mumbai Indians were the most watched team on television in the first edition of the IPL tournament, totaling to 239 million viewers. After posting a revenue of 69 crore and expenditure of 85 crore, the first season left the owners with net loss of INR 16 crore and were expected to break even in the 2009 season.
